I think I might pick up a lottery ticket

Because I want to open my own needlework store.

After 2 1/2 months of not working, I'm tired of unemployment but teaching jobs are hard to get and I really really really really don't want to go back to a call center.

So, I think I should just win the lottery and then I can open up my own needlework store in Denton.  I even have a building in mind off the square in Denton that would work perfectly (I think it's vacant, not 100% on that though).

Imagine:

A needlework store that has all your favorite flosses and fabrics.  And I might stock some specialty yarns too.  There's also a room filled with comfy chairs and really good lighting that's reserved for stitchers to come in and stitch.  And there'd be a big screen TV so we can have football 'n stitch and such.

And for my husband, we would have a train layout (with cross stitched buildings and such) that we would change for the different seasons.  Just because.

[sigh] never going to happen though.

  1. Ooooo. Buy the ticket!! I'll come and be your assistant. I'll do anything, just let me be there, it sounds wonderful, even the train set and the football sound good! Irene xxx

    1. Irene, I have a feeling that if I ever opened shop, I would have a line of people waiting to work there.

There was an LNS in Lewisville. A really nice one but it closed its doors about 2 years ago. The next closest is Plano which is well over an hour drive and I avoid them after I called them once and asked for 11 count evenweave and I hear the girl on the phone go "what's evenweave?" shudder shudder. I think Denton could easily support one. It wouldn't be too bad of a drive for people from southern Oklahoma either.

  2. I play the lottery religiously and I always consider my ticket- "the winning ticket"! I don't think a day goes by where I don't think about winning the jackpot! It would be so nice to be set for life! I always try and figure out whether or not I'd take the cash up front or take payments. I guess it would really depend on how old I was at the time. If I went with the payments and then for some reason I really needed the money I could always sell my structured settlement. Regardless, I'll keep playing and probably only winning a few bucks here or there. Like I always say though, "You can't win if you don't play!". My girlfriend is also trying to get a full time teaching job. Luckily she has been able to get a few long-term sub jobs. Keep your head up and keep trying!

  3. I would love you to open a store in Denton. Sadly your Denton is in the wrong country! I live in Denton, Manchester, UK!
