Sorry about the shortness of my posts

My posts lately have been kind of short.  Sorry.  Most of the time, I'm trying to type one-handed holding the newborn who apparently wants to be held at all times.

I need some help

Sad so say, we're so happy about the baby but financially...well, let's not go there.  We're going to lose use of the Pontiac Solstice we've been driving in April.  It helps but since it seats 2, not so good for transporting the babies.  Oh, and my other stepson got word today that they're totaling his car from getting rear-ended (only took the insurance company 2 MONTHS to settle this).  So, I've joined the charity cars site.  There's a link in the sidebar to click to vote for me.  If you have the time, please vote.  I'd really appreciate it.

New Arrival

Please welcome...

Adèle-Aimée Soleil Arceneaux

Born February 15, 2011 in Bridgeport, TX at 8:43 AM
7 pounds, 8.5 oz
19 1/2 inches long

No, I did not get any stitching done in the hospital as I have about 9 holes in my arms from failed attempts to put in IVs and drawing blood.

Labor started at 2:25 on Monday and progressed really slowly.  Had a really weird and uncomfortable reaction to the epidural and they had to switch meds.  At about 8 am on Tuesday they broke my water and then suddenly I went from 6 cm to 10 cm and they weren't ready for me to push at all.  Three pushes and she was out!

My two sweeties (the third is off causing trouble)

Crazy Socks and Stocking Progress

Parsley of Seasons of my Mind is having a Crazy Sock Party today.  Here is my contribution:

In case you can't see too well, They are Cookie Monster Socks.  And here are some other feet that are so cute they don't need crazy socks.

Also, having been off work for several days this week, I made quite a bit of progress on the stocking.

A Test

I've made some more progress on the stocking. I'm attempting to use Blogger for mobile and I want to see how it will work so I can possibly use it in the hospital. Here goes

Gearing Up

The baby dropped on Friday but still hasn't arrived.  I give her a few more days.  Or, if my husband's right, she's coming during the Super Bowl since my GREEN BAY PACKERS are in this year!

I have to go to work today.  Therefore, I had to drag out the appropriate gear to take with me.  The Super Bowl will be played on our TVs so I can catch stuff in between calls.

We have two Title Towels and also the Mardi Gras beads from Super Bowl XXXI (my Mom knew someone who was in New Orleans back then and he brought those back.

Also have my hospital bag ready.

And I found this when I was looking for the Packer stuff.  It's my birth sampler my aunt made. :)

Amazing Grace

BTW, the piece two posts down is actually called "Amazing Grace" and it's a Janlynn kit.  Surfing ebay just browsing to see if I could find old patterns seems to have paid off  It was from 1995.  I think I stitched it in 2001 or 2002.

Still snowed in

This was the view out my window this morning:

So the weather in North Texas keeps fluctuating.  First, it was Tuesday would be bad but it would get back above freezing by Thursday.  Now, I believe the freezing point has been pushed to Saturday afternoon.  Then it was 30% chance of 1-3 inches of snow Friday but then it became 70% chance of 5-7 inches and it was supposed to stop at noon....but it's still snowing even now.  44 snowplows were sent from west Texas to Dallas to help with the highways due to the Super Bowl.  It sounds like they imported salt as well from the story here.  So they say they will have 74 snowplows now.

I've taken the opportunity to do some stitching.

This is Winter's Twilight Stocking (you can see it's a house now).  Work on this is definitely going faster than I anticipated with the majority being half crosses.  I think I am also going to backstitch while I go as well since the backstitch is sporadic.

This is Do Not Meddle.  He has made a complete recovery from the frogging.  The two large sections you see still blank are solid color and I'm leaving those for now to do in the hospital if I'm drugged up too much.  I started the wing on the left side as well.

Unidentified Finished Kits

I've had this mini project to put up pictures of pieces that I've done.  Still tracking down a few.  But some pieces that I did in the past are kits and I don't have the kit info anymore (got lost in the move).  I've been google searching to try to find them but since I did most of them about 10 years ago or so, a lot have been discontinued.

Here are some UFKs:  Unidentified Finished Kits

Both of these are at least 10 years old.  The top one is stamped.  I've tried searching wedding stamped kits but do you know how many of those there are?  The bottom one was a very nice kit that actually came with a floss card and it was on evenweave. But nothing remotely close comes up when I search for "amazing grace."

I think this cheerful snowman is by Dimensions but I can't find him anywhere.

The one on the right I found with no problem.  The one on the left I got at Hobby Lobby on clearance and I don't think it was a mainstream kit maker.

Some of my pictures are also a little on the blurry side so I'm working at getting clearer pictures (fortunately, the blurry ones are ones I actually still have in my possession).

Frogging the Dragon

So, I started work again on Do Not Meddle.  I knew part of it had to be frogged.  So, I stitched on it for a couple hours and realized....where I thought it had to be frogged was in the wrong place.  I just had to tear out an hour or two's worth of stitching.

I had to take out one of his legs.  See, I thought the tail was off.  Turns out it was up by the body portion.  And the dragons are mirror images so I figured it had to be done or risk looking lopsided when done.

I was able to actually finish the tail portion and start rebuilding (correctly) what I had torn out.

He's well on his way to recovery.  Not a lot left to do really on this dragon....then have to start all over on the mirror image one on the other side.

New Project

So, I decided to start work on Winter's Twilight Stocking which is a Gold Collection kit by Dimensions.

It looks very complicated but a lot of it is only half crosses.  It's stitched on 16 ct blue Aida.

This is my progress so far:

I didn't go to work today as most of DFW is shut down due to the icy roads with snow (even DFW airport is shut down.  I'm also under the weather which isn't good this close to baby.  It's not supposed to get above freezing until Thursday so I'm not sure if I'll be able to go out tomorrow as our driveway and street is coated in ice.

I plan to take both the stocking and Do Not Meddle with me to the hospital as this gives me a choice on what to work on.  Currently, Do Not Meddle looks like this:
